Season 5 of The Chosen kicks off with two episodes that take us straight into the final days of Jesus’ ministry on earth. These episodes cover the events leading up to the Last Supper, starting with Jesus’ triumphant arrival in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.
The episode opens with a flash-forward: a quiet, intimate scene from the Last Supper. Jesus speaks to his disciples, and the moment is full of emotion. Then we go back in time to four days earlier, where we see Jesus entering Jerusalem, greeted by crowds shouting “Hosanna!” It’s a joyful scene, but there’s an underlying sense of unease. While the people celebrate, the religious leaders begin to panic. Pharisees like Shmuel and Yussif realize that Jesus is becoming too popular, and they fear what the Romans might do if this continues.
We also catch glimpses of the disciples, Peter, Matthew, John, dealing with their own fears and questions. Peter, especially, seems unsettled, sensing that something big is coming but unsure of what.
In the follow-up episode, we get another scene from the Last Supper at the start, this time focusing on Jesus’ deep words to Peter, asking, “Will you lay down your life for me?” That question hits hard, especially when we see how bold and confident Peter acts in the scenes that follow.
The main focus of Episode 2 is the cleansing of the temple. Jesus walks into the temple and sees merchants selling animals and exchanging money, turning a holy place into a marketplace. He flips their tables and drives them out, showing a side of him that’s full of righteous anger. It’s one of the most powerful moments of the series so far.
These two episodes set the tone for an intense season. Jesus is still teaching, healing, and showing love, but now, every move feels heavier. The end is near, and both his followers and his enemies are beginning to sense it.
The acting is strong, the writing is solid, and the visuals pull you in. One of the best things about The Chosen is how it makes the people in the Bible feel real, and that continues here.
If you’ve been following the series, Season 5 starts strong; And if you’re new, it’s worth starting, because the story is only getting more interesting.
